This years Griffin King of the Hammers was not only the hardest, most extreme race that you have ever watched, but also the most fun you could have in one place for a whole week in the desert. "We want this to be an all inclusive trip," said Dave Cole of Hammerking Productions. "you can watch racing, meet celebrity drivers, go wheelin, and be able to outfit your vehicle right there on the lake bed with the most innovative products."

The Griffin King of the Hammers race was held on Friday February 12, 2010, but that was the last race of the week. Racing action started on Tuesday and Wednesday with the LCQ (last chance qualifier) where over 50 drivers challenged their rigs and themselves for 20 spots in the main event on Friday. Thrusday racing action continued with the Pit Bull Tires UTV King of the Hammers which had a large cash purse awarded to the winner. Friday morning the green flag waved for the 4th running of the Griffin King of the Hammers awarding the winner Loren Healy $15,000 cash and the Kings Scepter for the year.

Off the race course and in the city that was built on Means Dry Lake Bed in Johnson Valley, Ca there was a full Vendor Show and enough events to keep you busy for the entire week. The Vendor Show was composed of big rigs and huge circus tents filled with products that you can use for your trail rigs, tow rigs, and extreme buggies. There was seminars and sponsored parties every evening, and of course in the true

desert style big bon fires. You could also just hang out in the Griffin Pirate4x4 Lounge where they were streaming live interviews with drivers, vendors, and more!

Of course we are all wheelers at heart, and you can only watch for so long, we understand! After the Griffin King of the Hammers Awards Ceremony Saturday morning, there was a trail ride for Friends of Johnson Valley Clean Up. It's was everyon's turn to explore the Hammer trails around Johnson Valley that the racers tackled the day before.
